Clubbing

Yup, I tried Montreal's night life. And to be honest, its not my kind of thing. Not my cup of tea. No siree.

The idea of going out for a drink is not new to me, in fact, I enjoy it.
The idea of going out to dance in a club is new to me, but I have a feeling that I will not enjoy it.
So... the idea of going out for a drink and dancing, it combines two things, a plus and a minus. So I thought why not right?

Turns out, the minus overweighs the plus by a mile. It wasn't that enjoyable after all. Well, I'll just say why I don't like it, then judge me as you will

The night started out fine. Lining up in front of the club in the winter was fine since we had on jackets and stuff, pity the ladies though, dress only. It was fun to watch the ladies shiver in the cold winter night. And then, once I got in, I found myself standing in a dimly lit place, the norm for clubs. I was fine with that. Turns out, we were a lil too early, nobody was there yet. So we ordered drinks and waited for people to come. Until then, it was still fine. Then people started coming, and the music started. Oh god, that's when things took a turn for the bad, the music was too loud for my preference, way louder than what I had expected. The bass was booming so loud that my chest felt like it was about to explode any time soon. Then of course there's the dancing. I didn't dance much, mind you. I know I have two left feet. At that time, I was thinking, what the hell is and introvert like myself doing in a club?

So in the club, I went to doing the thing I enjoy doing when I have nothing in common with the crowd. People watching. There was a whole lot of people. Everybody was rubbing everything with everybody, which I know is something normal out here but I'm still not used to it. I don't know whether you would call this a culture shock or not, I'm just not used to it. I'm not disgusted or anything, just not used to seeing it. My rational mind was saying, its alright la, these people might be friends, who knows right? And so, the rubbing (they call it grinding for some reason) continued on and on and I watched as the guy was getting a lil touchy. Everybody was a lil high and feelings of lust were very apparent. But the juiciest part of the night was when the guy and the girl started going at it, and to those that don't understand the meaning, they were slobbering all over each other. Now that's a show for everyone to see I'll bet. Was kinda weird to see a whole bunch of people crowding around two people making out but hey, what the heck right? Haha... Could be friends (with benefits ^^) or strangers.

With the music continuing, a pair making out, and others grinding anybody and everybody, that was when I decided that it would be the last time I went to a club, for anything. This occasion was apparently for charity, something about helping Pakistan and it was organized by UNICEF McGill, with my friend being one of the execs. That's why I went. It was a not so good experience, I wouldn't classify it as a downright bad experience but it wasn't good either. Either way, I can honestly say, I experienced Montreal's night life at least once and I definitely hated it.

Continuation of the Dream Journal

Yes, dreams #3 and #4 came about during and after my Mexico trip respectively. I was too lazy to blog about them until recently I have the STBS (Short Term Blogging Spirit). So here it goes:

Dream #3
The dream started out in a dark corridor. I heard water dripping. I thought I was underground, might be in the sewers for all I know, but the ground was dry. Weird...

Anyway, I was looking for a way out of there when I heard the sound of mice. Chit chit chit... and they were running towards me. I panicked and started running, running as fast as I could. But then I tripped and fell, face down, and soon after, the rats were all on top of me. As a last resort, I sort of jumped, worm-style.

That's when I woke up, on the bed in a hotel in Chichen-Itza, Mexico. Luckily for me and unluckily for the two guys sleeping next to me, since I slept in between them that night, I gave them quite a shock. Imagine... an overweight guy suddenly jumping while sleeping, and landing back on the bed, creating shockwaves on the bed. Hehehehe...

Dream #4
Dream #4 came when I first came back from Mexico. My dream started out with me in a classroom. Around me were all these student also, but they were all looking very gloomy and sad. I didn't know why until I went out of the classroom. If you thought that there was a lecture going on, nope, there's none. And for your information, in my dream, there were no lectures. It was more of a self study thing I think. Nevertheless, I went out of the classroom and eventually found the computer room. The room was a tiny room with a lot of computers, but hardly any space. And there was a security guard there. Kinda makes you wonder, what is a security guard doing at a computer room. Protecting those computers?

Turns out, the security guard is there to make sure we don't use the computer except for academic purposes. No Facebook, no email, just Google and the likes. And there was also a time limit, one hour. After the hour, the security guard will shoo you away. For some reason, when I was in there, I had a notebook on the table, but the security guard came and took my notebook. He took it and began to read its contents, which even I don't know. When I was dreaming this, I kept thinking, I need to take notes in that book, when is he giving it back? Grr... When he was finished, he told me, "Time's up, let's go". HAR?!? Never mind...

After that, I decided to leave campus and go out for a walk, don't know why, just walked. When I stepped out, I saw that the whole campus is surrounded by a jungle, basically, we're in a very very very rural university. There's a small path connecting the university to the main road, which makes me wonder how I got to know of this place in the first place. Anyway, as I was dreaming, apparently I was hungry because the next second I know, I was in a hawker centre, eating wan tan mee. I must have been itching to eat wan tan mee for a long time without noticing. Then there was the walk back to the campus after the meal, which kinda reminds me of the road in Pokok Assam, on the way to Ah Kong's house.

After a while, I find myself in the midst of a ceremony, a graduation ceremony. Not mine, but older students. I looked at the stage and saw a comedy act between two guys, one guy making a lame statement and the other guy hitting him with a paper fan. Kinda like those comedy acts in Japanese anime. After that, it was time for the handing of the scrolls, and I saw just two, that's right, two people, going up, graduating. Now that kinda shocked me a little because the graduation hall was packed, almost 300 people I would presume. But only 2 people got the paper. Sure is kinda weird to have almost 300 people looking at 2 people graduating but still, my dreams are always weird. Heh. Suddenly, I heard a bell ring, like those in secondary school last time. That was when I suddenly woke up.

Kinda bizzare to have two totally unrelated dreams in a span of one week. One involving escaping from mice and another involving some weird university life. The mice dream, I know where it came from, because that night, the movie, "The Green Mile" was on the television and there was a scene where a mouse was killed, being stepped on. The mice was flat and there was blood around it. So that dream might come from that scene. As for the weird university life dream, I still have no idea where that dream came from. Still thinking.. Heh

Mexico!!!

Yesh! I went, and came back during my one and half winter break there. Feel so good to leave the cold snowy winter in Montreal and enjoy the sun in Mexico. Reason for going to Mexico is... one, to run away from winter (main reason); two, most people were planning South America; three, ... well actually, there's only two. Was hoping for a three, cause the old saying is good things come in threes isn't it? Or is it twos? Oh well, I have two, so let's just leave it at that.

A one week trip to Mexico, one week of beaches, ruins, sun, rain (not snow.. lol), erm.. what else? Oh ya, food. Hehehehe... one week of seafood and tacos!
Heh, after mentioning food sure must show pic la. Seafood buffet, 1st meal

Of course, not everything in Mexico is about the food. There's also places to see, like downtown Mexico, nothing very interesting there actually.. lol, that's why there isn't any pictures. There's also sandy beaches,
Yes, that's me, look at the hairdo, some say its Wolverine's, some say its Bezita from DragonBall. You be the judge.

Most of the beaches in Cancun are privated, owned by the hotels that lines up by the beach, and the only way to access it is through it. So even though the beach is public, the way to access those beaches require one to trespass into private property, so basically, we're pretty screwed if we wanna go to the beach. Thankfully, some hotels' security ain't that bad and we were able to sneak into the beaches and sneak out.

Also, apparently tequila is famous in Mexico, don't ask me why, they just are. And their favourite beer is Corona, light beer, a lil too gassy for me. And of course, if your country is famous for tequila, might as well show this.
For those of you who can't read the sign, it says, "I can Has CheezBurger?" No, I'm just joking, it is the world's largest tequila collection.

And I did mention tacos earlier right? Here's a sample of the tacos that I had while in Mexico. Seeing as I am not a taco fan and never occasionally had a taco or two, I can't compare this taco eating experience with a past one, although the reviews for the tacos that we had were superb on the Internet.
The tacos that I had. Mostly pork, with cheese and one of them has flour tortilla.

After the beaches and eating, the ruins are not to be forgotten. The ruins were at first the basis for the whole going to Mexico thing, so to not visit the ruins would make the trip incomplete. Along the way, the van that we took stopped by a souvenir shop, letting us shop around.
Like this chess set. Never took a fancy for them, because I couldn't really differentiate all the pieces. All in all, every pieces looks like a block of stone, with different carvings.

And yes, the great temple of the Mayan ruins. Gotta take a photo there. Apparently, tourists were allowed to go up the stairs until 5 years ago, when somebody fell down those stairs and died. So after that, we can only see it from ground level. Sheesh~ one guy falls and ruins it for the rest of us.
Yes, that's me, and yes, I got fat. 'nuff said.

We got a tour guide to explain it to us also, about the buildings, what they were used for, how old are they, history of the Mayans, etc.
Yup, that's our tour guide. Favourite phrase, "Alright my friends..."

After the ruins, well, we pretty much saw everything that we wanted. We saw the beaches, we saw the ruins, we ate the food. We also went snorkelling, which to me, ain't that nice after my Redang trip. The fishes were dull looking. However, we did see stingrays, big ones, live ones, the ones that can kill. LoL, just joking.

And one final picture, two girls went to get their hair braided. After that, they were known as the predator sisters. Here's a look of the hair one completed. Looks a bit like some pattern on a soccer ball.

Last note of the trip, 7 out of the 9 people that were on the trip suffered diarrhoea, stomach cramps(?) headaches. The trip was fun for me since I'm not one of the nine. Heh~

That's all about the trip. AdiĆ³s!
